I think it’s fair to say that most of us, if not all of us, would like less fear, less worry, less anxiety and less stress in general and more confidence, more energy & more feeling good!
The bottom line is that there is a very small percentage of people that will actually do something about it. This is the power of your subconscious mind!
We have been so conditioned that our subconscious processes won’t let us change – they won’t even let us start the process of change. We need to be completely honest to ourselves about who we are and the position we are in and if we genuinely want something to change, we need to believe it wholeheartedly with our conscious AND subconscious mind.
So, WHY won’t we change?
Perhaps we don’t know what to do, perhaps we don’t even know where to start? Or, perhaps you do not have the money to invest in yourself?
It all starts with a mindset change. Even if you are a lazy person, it is essentially your subconscious mindset that has conditioned you to be that way.
Often it is the fear of the unknown, fear of what people think and fear of failure that prevent us from making the first step towards changing. Elite athletes face immense pressure everyday with having to reach unrealistic expectations, to be at the top of their game every single day and not let the team down.
These fears can be hugely debilitating and often prevent athletes from performing at their best and rather turn to just “playing it safe”.
So much of the time, what we really need is to be shaken awake and come to this realisation that we NEED to change, we need to change our conditioned responses and eliminate these feelings of self-doubt and unworthiness. How are we ever supposed to reach our goals and conquer our fears when these thoughts constantly hold us back?
At the end of the day, your “state of being” or your conditioned state of mind is holding you back from making the first steps towards change.
So HOW do we change this “state of being”?
First off, ask yourself “How long do I have left on this earth”?
When you realise that your time on earth is limited and you have lived more years than you currently have left, then one comes to the realisation that there is no time to be stressed, worried anxious and unhappy. Of course there is time for that, but it is absolutely a waste of your time. Time waits for nobody!
There is no second chance. Either you reach those goals in this lifetime or you need to be content in your old age that you didn’t achieve all you set out to do!
Those athletes that dream of being at the top of their sport are often faced with a shorter timespan to achieve their goals, since a lot of sports have such young athletes in their absolute prime and once that time is passed, you can no longer keep up with the young athletes with incredible energy & stamina.
Secondly, ask yourself whether you are content with never reaching those goals. Ask yourself whether you are happy to be in the position you are currently in for the rest of your life.
If the answer is no, then you need to face these fears head-on and make the first step towards change. The biggest regret are the chances you do not take!
Once you have re-programmed your subconscious mind to respond in a more positive way, to be motivated, to welcome change, you immediately begin to feel more energised and excited about life.
So many opportunities are lost because people are not ready to take the risk and face their fears. Don’t let yourself become one of these people.
Go out there, make the change, face those fears and realise your full potential.
The only thing stopping yourself is you!
